True Worship
The Dance of Eternity
True worship is the act of entering the Holy of Holies and freely and wholeheartedly ascribing to the Lord His majesty, dominion, power, beauty and rule. The act of true worship must begin with the intentional transferal of removing our gaze off of self and this world and intentionally setting our sight to the heavens. As we intentionally and purposefully shift the sight of our mind’s eye to the gates of glory, we gain access by true thanksgiving and are ushered into the Holy of Holies by rightful praise. As we get closer to the Throne Room the intensity of and purity of our worship is magnified as the Holy Spirit throws fuel on the fire of our hearts. So true worship involves travel. We must get from one place to another. We must move from the terrestrial to the eternal. Although many talk about taking the trip, and go through the motions of making the trip, not all arrive at their intended destination, or even go anywhere- Why?
Most, at one time or another have felt uncomfortable out of the dance floor. Without knowledge, practice (or as many complain) the right DNA… we feel out of place. We have the painful self awareness that even though we are out on the dance floor, and the music is playing, and we are in fact moving our feet; no one in their right mind who was observing this activity would call it dance. Sadly, many in this embarrassing situation opt for increased enthusiasm and try harder. For someone who can’t dance at slow speed it just gets uglier when increased tempo is administered, so it is with souls out on the worship dance floor. Just as many have been known to take the dance floor, but not all actually dance, many go to worship services, but not all actually worship. We find ourselves going through the motions of worship, but fully and painfully cognoscente that it just isn’t happening. So we sing longer and louder and even swing to the music.
Like the body on the dance floor that goes through the motions of the dance but never attains the true goal, our pews are filled with motions of worship, but not the real McCoy. Real dance takes practice under the tutelage of a good teacher; likewise real worship. And fortunately the Father has sent the Arthur Murray of instructor to all his sons and daughters for unlimited, private lessons- the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit knows all the moves; from the waltz to the watusi, the swim and the Freddie, the swing and the salsa. And your same instructor taught King David who danced and worshiped before the ark with all his might. More later…
